Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2011 Collection
Style.com sums it up:
"Who wants to come out in brights [for pre-fall]?" Carolina Herrera asked at an informal presentation in her showroom today. "I saw it had to be subtle." Simple, simple, simple, she repeated as she walked editors through racks of dresses, pants, knits, and blouses in French gray and pewter blue, with just a shot or two of poppy red and gold."
We don't know, minions. Style seemed to like it more than we do. Let's go to the tape:
We don't dislike it, exactly. It's the usual array of feminine frocks one should expect from Carolina. Everything's very pretty, as it almost always is with her. It's just that we're not feeling the palette. Collectively, it's all a little depressing. We get the reasoning for going with a more neutral color story (although she's done bright colors for Fall and Pre-Fall before) but neutral doesn't have to mean funereal. On the other hand, if you look at each dress individually, there's an awful lot to like. Although we're not loving the leopard prints all that much.
