Emily Blunt for Harper's Bazaar UK
Harper's Bazaar UK December 2010 Issue
Editorial: "Exquisitely Blunt"
Photographer: Paola Kudacki
Stylist: Vanessa Coyle
On adjusting to fame: “I used to look like a deer in headlights on the red carpet. You step out of the car and it’s bedlam. Everyone’s got crazy eyes. Now, I have a martini before I leave – just to take the edge off it.”
On her husband “The Office” star John Krasinski: “Yes, he’s the funniest man in the world to most, but especially to me.”
On her very public relationship and subsequent split from singer Michael Buble: “It’s why I don’t ever talk about John. When you’re in love, you’re so happy that you want to tell people about it. But now I have to censor myself. You need to protect the happiness you have.”
On how she relaxes: “In my downtime, I cook a mean roast chicken, and if I need to let off steam, I go dancing.
Just to give you some idea of how gay we really are (not that you should have doubted it), we took advantage of some Black Friday pricing and landed ourselves a Blu-ray player for a steal. We agreed that we weren't going to go out and replace the DVDs we had just because we can't see every pore on the actors' faces, but we allowed ourselves one movie to break in the machine. And what movie did we collectively decide simply must be seen immediately in all its Hi-Def detail? The Devil Wears Prada, of course. We simply had to see every seam and bauble. The movie doesn't really hold together all that well except for three things: Meryl, the clothes, and Emily Blunt.
Anyway, here she is in all her glory, working that camera like her life depended on it. She's one of a handful of actresses who possesses the skills to be a world-class model; namely, the charismatic aspect of it. She doesn't just stand and pose or look into the lens and smile (like so many actresses do), she tells a little story with every picture and she makes the clothes look even more stunning than they are. She forces you to look at her.
