Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2011 Collection
People say, "T Lo," they say, "Will you help us out here and define just what the frig 'Pre-Fall' is?" We just laugh and pour ourselves another glass of Champagne. "Darlings," we reply, "If the designers themselves can't define it, what the frig makes you think we can?" Then we toss back our heads and toss back our Champagne and toss the flutes into the fireplace.
As Style.com noted for this collection:
"For pre-fall, she picked up the floral inspiration as well, though Spring's screen-printed gowns have mostly given way to more abstract florettes and blossom-evoking frills."
Compare this to Carolina Herrera's insistence that no woman wants to see Spring colors in a pre-Fall collection. Face it: "Pre-Fall" means whatever that particular designer wants it to mean. For Monique Lhuillier:
It means very feminine dresses in vibrant Spring-like colors and jewel tones. Who's to say she's wrong? It's not exactly a collection that fires the imagination, but we can't argue with the results. Monique does pretty and she's continuing her work here. Expect to see most of these on the RC at some point. Christina Hendricks needs to snag that green gown ASAP. We'd put Anne Hathaway in the floral gown.
