We thought Project Runway fans might be interested in a look at recently auf'd contestant April Johnston's latest collection for her line Mangled Courtesan. The collection is appropriately titled. "SHES MADNESS". Mangled Courtesan is a custom design brand by April available on her Etsy shop. These designs are one-of-a-kind pieces.

Whenever we feature the work of PR contestants on this site we always judge it using a far different set of criteria than we would for anything walking a runway in New York, Paris or Milan. Someone like Michael Kors has access to the very best stylists, models, and photographers in the entire world, not to mention the very best seamstresses, pattern makers, and choices of fabrics. A struggling designer doesn't and it's not fair to judge them on the same basis.
One thing that stands out here is just how professional this lookbook is. Huge kudos to April on that because image is everything in the fashion world. We realize a lot of PR fans are going to bemoan the all-black aesthetic and truthfully, we kinda wish she'd not gone that route ourselves.
We think these are interesting looks that truly come from some place deep inside April and we'll always respect an artist for being true to themselves, but it would have been nice to see some little bit of color or at least some greys and touches of white to balance out all that blackness.
