Words:

On learning about parenting from her mom and dad: “My mom and dad had it figured out: They never worked at the same time, and they were very conscious of making anywhere we went feel like home. When you’re working, the hours are brutal, but when you’re not working, you have all the time in the world. That’s always a difficult balance.”

On the difficulty of finding good female roles: “They are — because in most male-driven vehicles, the female parts tend to be dispensable. I have faith that we can make female-driven films that are as interesting to men as they are to women.”

On filming Almost Famous: “One of my favorite experiences. One, because I love Cameron Crowe. And two, because it was just such a wonderful movie. The whole thing was overwhelming — in the best way.

Well, all right, Kate. We didn't think she had it in her but that dress looks so much better on her than on the model. In fact, we'd go so far as to say she's working that dress to the point that she's making it look better than it actually is. Taking a step back, we think it looks a bit like something a 5 year old would wear to a birthday party. Except the 5 year old designed it herself. It can look a little precious. And yet Kate's making it look fresh and chic. In fact, she looks so good here she should use it in her lawsuit against whoever shot her for that awful Almay commercial. Well done, cover gal.
